The Katana is a Melee Weapon Item which can occasionally be bought from Nitro Express. It is unknown when the item was first introduced, however evidence suggests it was present in the game prior to January 2020.

Description

As the name suggests, the Katana is based on the real life Japanese weapon. The hilt of the weapon features a light grey hilt with even lighter lines implying the existence of a grip. Much like many real life katanas, the weapon possess no guard separating the hilt from the blade. The blade of the weapon is made of a light grey metal which curves upwards.

Trivia

• The Katana weapon has appeared in the Fallout Franchise twice. Both in Fallout 3's Mothership Zeta Add-on in the form of the Samurai's Sword, and in Fallout: New Vegas' Gun Runner's Add-on, given a more generic name of Katana. Of the two the weapon in Ashes Town appears more similar to the Fallout: New Vegas variant, with the inclusion of the Katana authentic blade Weapon mod. As with it, it replaces the dark blue handle with a black handle.
• The Fallout Equestria text makes no mention of the Katana weapon, given the fact that it is a Japanese word. Fallout Equestria instead seems to possess non-descript 'Sheathed blades' used by Pre-war Zebras, which has a likelihood to bear some similarity to a Katana.
